Rachael Evans
Rachael graduated with a first class honours in her Biological Science (BSc) degree from the University of Leeds. As an undergraduate she undertook a sandwich year at the pharmaceutical company Eisai, where she worked on projects for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Here is where her interests in neurodegeneration and drug discovery were created.
In 2015, Rachael began her PhD programme at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines at UCL. The first year involved the completion of two training projects based in Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Department at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, and in Drug Product Design, Pfizer, Sandwich, U.K.
Rachael’s PhD research is a multi-disciplinary project looking at developing advanced therapeutics for Parkinson’s disease using stem cell technology and biomaterials. This project aims to develop new regenerative medicine technologies to overcome the limitations of current treatments.
